Especially for René and his family Carel played in Carré a number for his 50# birthday and dedicated to his parents, who loved the sound of the bandoneon.Not only René was in tears, but also all his guests in Carré.Many Dutch artists attended this event to celebrate his birthday with a musical performance.Present were Danny de Munck, Edsilia Rombley, Ernst Daniel Smid, Karin Bloemen, Linda de Mol, André van Duin, Frans Bauer, Peter Beense, Ruth Jacott and many others.This can all be seen in a 55 minutes lasting compilation on tv.

On Monday 22 November, on the initiative of Freek de Jonge with the Metropole Orchestra a special protest-evening will take place in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.Musicians and artists like Carel, Wende, Moke, Kiteman, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Intodans, Acda & De Munnik, Ernst Daniël Smid, Giel Beelen, Izaline Calister, NUHR, Halina van Reijn, Hans Kesting, a.m.o. will be present.Tickets for this event will be available at www.culturelekaalslag.nl, tel. 0900 3001250.
