‘Long live Civilization’, Monday 22 November, direct on Neth. 2.

The public broadcasting corporation will report directly on Monday 22 November of the manifestation ‘Long live Civilization’ from the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.The broadcast is a cooperation of AVRO, VPRO, VARA and NTR and will last one and a half hour, from 20:25 until 21:50.The evening is dedicated to the annouced cutbacks in art and culture and is initiated by FNV KIEM in cooperation with Freek de Jonge.Under the leadership of the complete Metropole Orchestra several great names of the Dutch artsector will perform: Waylon, Wende Snijders, Brigitte Kaandorp, Kyteman and Acda&De Munnik. The presentation of this evening is done by Freek de Jonge and Giel Beelen.Tribute to culture.Freek de Jonge: “This night we will emphasize the inspiring power of art. It will be a tribute to the culture which is so deeply rooted in our society, that cutbacks are experienced as contempt of civilisation. I see a change in climate too, but keeping our heads cool is the best thing to do!”

Programme:Furthermore in ‘Long live Civilisation’ performances of Moke, Ernst Daniël Smid, Giovanca, Les Miserables, Hans Kesting and Halina Reijn, the Nits, Izaline Calister, Introdans, Carel Kraayenhof, the Dutch Danstheater, Cesar Zuiderwijk, the Leerorchestra, NUHR, Liza Ferschtman, the Dutch Opera Foundation, Gijs Scholten van Asschat, Ramsey Nasr, Ruth Jacott and several art- and arttraining institutes.’It is going to be a unique night of enough importance to broadcast directly’, say the cooperating broadcasting corporations.
