Hans van Manen 75 years old! On this occasion the Hans van Manen Festival will take place in September. During this festival, on September 15 and 16, Carel and his Sexteto Canyengue (with guitar and percussion) will accompany Hans van Manen’s choreography ‘5 Tangos’ in the Muziektheater in Amsterdam.www.hansvanmanenfestival.nl

It has been the great merit of the Dutch dancer/choreographer Hans van Manen (1932) that he managed to bring Piazzolla’s music under the attention in the Netherlands. Like in a ‘suite’ he combined these five pieces for his ballet ‘5 Tangos’ (1977), which got praising reviews and by which the name Piazzolla became famous in the Netherlands.In 1998 the Sexteto Canyengue accompanied this choreography for the first time.We have the music obtainable on cd.
