Sexteto Canyengue in Russia 4

Yesterday the musicians amused themselves very well. Some of them went into town, others relaxed and Carel used the whole day to study on his concert next week in Gotha (East-Germany), where he will be the soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Tueringen (Gotha/Suhl), conducted by Herman Breuer.

The musicians find it difficult to understand that the Russian authorities could cancel their concert just like that, only one day before it would have taken place. As a consequence of this there will be no payment as well, because they appeal on circumstances beyond one’s control. It is a delicate situation, hard to understand for us, western people. The Russian management that booked this tour also claimed that it is unable to do something for us. Fortunately the weather is not too bad and only at night the temperature drops to 20 degrees below zero.So our musicians, professionals as they are, will prepare themselves for the concert tomorrow in the ‘Concert Hall Prokofieva’ in Nizhny Tagil.
