Piazzolla in Paris is a brand new program by bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof and his quartet and violinist Lisa Jacobs with her string ensemble for the 2024/2025 concert season.
With the program Piazzolla in Paris, Carel and Lisa – after a very successful collaboration last summer in Germany – realize their wish to set up a concert tour together with music by Astor Piazzolla and the Boulanger sisters. They thus underline Piazzolla’s belief that the tango deserves a place in the classical music canon.

Carel Kraayenhof was approached by Piazzolla in 1987 to participate as bandoneon soloist in a tango musical he composed. Carel learned from him and other tango experts from Argentina how tango should really be played. Carel has been the ambassador of Argentine tango music in Europe for decades, and still is. He gained worldwide acclaim through his performance during the 2002 wedding of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
